WIP PiperMakes Tau/Dao proxies for OPR

The end of my experiment with purchasing 3d-printed minis is that I like proxy models WAY too much and I’m probably buying a 3d printer this year. Plans are afoot to figure out UV shrouding and venting in midwinter. No regrets for my purchases, but many learnings (as usual).

Learnings; most purchased 3d printed work is going to come out in high-detail, very hard resin. Great for details, absolute dogshit for accidentally dropping and breaking parts off of. Reconsidering hard-floor wargaming area when we move. Might drop a thick rug and sacrifice some vacuum time for not snapping dropped models. But, ABS-like resin is pretty tough, tough enough I don’t worry about it. The resin doesn’t respond to tamiya glue ofc, but superglue works pretty well and pretty quick. I’m super excited to paint these guys and after learning about Complete Model First from my Orks I’ve got a couple of practice/testing synthwave paint schemes I’m going to hit my spare gun drones with. I’ve got 10 riflemen, 5 drones (plus spares for testing), a rifle captain, and a caster, which not only fills out nearly half the 1000-point small army I plan for but it takes care of all the skirmish units I need.

The last picture also includes my orc warboss and three killa kan proxies (in ABS-like), which I need to finish up for my ork skirmish groups. I don’t know if I give a shit about playing OPR Dao, I just like the gleeful “smash everything, don’t care if we win” playstyle of Orks. Feels like Dao will be a lot more tactical with fields of fire and all that. But they’re gonna look so good. 😀

Also, you can’t really make it out in the image, but the Ethereal’s middle left arm is kitbashed from a spare rifleman’s and due to some breakage is convincingly giving the OPFOR the finger.
