I needed a palette cleanser in between my larger projects this year. One of those cleansers were these flower wizards. All the models are from Reaper because I kickstarted three of their waves and so had a lot of these guys hanging around. First up, Leadwort. I managed a really good take on the leaf green/maroon stippling, I think.

Then I used an orchid. Lots of careful brushwork and then some glazes for a cloak that I was pretty satisfied with (and increasing confidence in my gems).

Then I tried a Fireball Gerbera Daisy. Mostly I was playing with orange and yellow, trying to get some good contrast, and getting distinction between shirt and robe with a limited palette. Came out pretty good! Also got a little more practice with bottles, and I’m liking where I’m headed.

Then, finally, an African Violet. More contrast that worked… okay, I guess. I didn’t match the hue perfectly and the folds of the cloak needed more highlight than they got, but it was a good learning experience and he looks okay for tabletop play.
