Various JLuna3D models

I have been having an absolute blast with JLuna3D’s SFW sculpts. Especially since posting them gets me free copies of their NSFW sculpts, which will be appearing in a later post.

I had a hard time with the purple on this Pontiff, mostly because it was really transparent and would have benefited a lot from grisaille. The skin, on the other hand, was a pure delight, and I really locked in on the NMM gold. Also, I really nailed the eyes. I did a victory dance when I got them done. And I got some real nice makeup effects on her eyeshadow and lips. 😀

This Reaper had more fun skin tones. The TMM armour wasn’t super great, I brushed way too much bronze on top of the rust. The lamp had some okay OSL, the robe had individually highlighted panels for lack of a better idea, but it came out pretty good, and I tried a couple rounds of NMM on the scythe until I hit on airbrushing a grey glaze to sort of even it out. Works better than anything else I’ve tried.

Next up was the Ursus Zealout. I didn’t settle on a palette I liked. I was aiming for dusty, worn purple compared to the Pontiff, which I mostly got, but the blue cloth and green leather really didn’t read distinctly. On the other hand, the NMM copper came out beautifully!

Robot time. I… went too hard on the paint chipping, I gotta be honest. I never get to chip my buddy’s BT models so I did five lances of frustrated chipping. Still, I had lots of fun.

Rat Wizard. I fucked up a couple different ways here- initally flipped the broom, forgot to add the extra rats hanging off the tail, tried a colour set I really didn’t like at first- and eventually even found out there’s a canon palette I didn’t use. Also after photos I fucked it up with hairspray trying to stiffen the cotton clouds. However, despite all that, I really loved this sculpt because there’s so many cute details and I managed a pretty good base for him.

Doot Doot, Herald of the Fall was poorly desprued- this whole set sort of forced me into learning better methods because of how bad it went. But, I tracked down some skull bits and printed up a plate full, got some good terrain made of dirt and glue, and then used elminiaturista’s plastic effect to really nail this hilarious skull-dooting effect I’m still deeply pleased with.
